F.A.Q.

Are gold light fixtures in style?

Gold is a timeless metal that remains in style through every era. It has long been a symbol of prosperity, which makes it a great way to accent your living space. Gold light fixtures add a dash of glamour to any room, and the reflectiveness of the material really makes your lighting glow.

Pair gold lighting with warm tones in your decor such as browns or reds. This will accent the gold's warmth, and make the room feel inviting and comfortable. You can also pair gold chandeliers with a black-and-white palette to create a striking accent.

Can you mix fixture metals?

You may have heard that all of the fixtures in your house should be the same metal to match. But, mixing metals can actually create some nice contrast when done right. Even warm and cool metals such as gold and silver can be paired successfully.

The secret is to ensure there’s roughly the same amount of each material. You don’t want one metal to dominate making the other stand out as mismatched. Try to spread them out evenly, rather than clumping similar metals together.

How do you choose a chandelier size?

The appropriate size gold chandelier depends on the size and height of the room in which you plan to hang it. An overly large chandelier in a small room, or one with a low ceiling, will feel cumbersome. You may even hit your head on the bottom tiers. On the other hand, a very small chandelier in a large or tall room may feel like it disappears among the other decor.

You generally want the base of the chandelier to hang about 7½ feet off the floor to leave plenty of room to walk underneath. If hanging it over a table or other furniture, the width and shape of the chandelier should be proportionate — roughly half the width of the table.
