The Changing Tables Guide

Congratulations—a baby is on the way! Once you’re done celebrating, it’s time to think about setting up the space your little one will be spending the first couple years of their life. Whether you’ll be outfitting a separate nursery or having them sleep in your bedroom, the one piece of furniture you may need (aside from a crib, of course) is a changing table. Not sure where to start? Read our guide below to learn more.

Do I Need A Changing Table?

As a new parent, you’ll be going through a lot of diapers in your newborn’s first two years. Acting as a designated safe spot to change diapers, and at a height comfortable enough that you won’t need to bed down far, a changing table is designed to make your life easier. That being said, you don’t always need to opt for a traditional changing table; you can also purchase a changing pad that can be placed on top of an existing dresser and removed once they grow out of it.

Where Should I Place A Changing Table?

The safest spot to put your changing table is in the nursery (or whatever room you are using), directly against a wall with no space in between; a corner would work well also, as that gives you two completely secure sides around the table. You’ll also want to make sure it is not near a window, any heating or air conditioning units, or below a hanging ceiling fixture.
