The Doormat Guide
The doormat is the first thing guests see when they arrive at your home. It may be a small item on your home decor checklist, but doormats work double-duty. They frame the entrance of your house and provide a layer of protection from dirt, water, mud, and other elements.
Size
Doormats come in a range of sizes and shapes. A general rule of thumb is to match the mat size to the width of your door or go slightly smaller. If your doormat is too large, it will look out of place. A standard doormat size is 30 X 48 inches for a single door and 36 X 72 inches for a double door. You’ll also want to consider the thickness of the mat. A high pile might not clear the swing of the door and won’t remove dirt as well as short pile versions.

Coir
Coir mats have a natural look because they are created using fibers from coconut shell husks. Coir doormats are one of the most common doormat types. The coarse texture is excellent for scraping mud and dirt off shoes, and its durability is ideal for high-traffic areas.
