Qashqai Kilims

Qashqai Kilim Structure

Qashqai Kilim are made made using a slit tapestry technique. As Marla Mallett describes it Tapestry is a discontinuous weft weave. The Qashqai use the more common form which leaves a slit at the point where the shift in color is made. We generally just call this Kilim.

At each end there is usually a shift in technique and bands of complimentary weft weave are common. If anyone reading this can take some clear close-ups of a Qashqai Kilim end skirts I would be in your debt.
