Jaf Kurd weavers use two rows of wefts between each row of knots:

Description: Jaff Kurd bag face, hand-knotted wool, Iran, c.1900. Colors range between fruit red and apricot, medium blue border, blue-green, sky blue, aubergine, chocolate, and pale yellow. Low, even wear, but not to foundation. Selvage not original.

Full Description: Very nice Jaf Kurd rug w full pile, nice color palette, very lustrous. Original sides and braided ends. No restorations, as far as I can tell. Good, sturdy, floorworthy piece.

Sauj Bulaq Kurdish Kilim Early 20th C

Early 20th century. 3'11"x 8'4."
Wedge weave tapestry. The side borders are slit tapestry; the end borders are dovetailed. Narrow brocade borders appear at the ends, and small brocaded good-luck ornaments are scattered throughout the field. The lower end has the original twined heading cord; the upper end is finished with the original band of oblique interlacing. The rug is sturdy and in good condition, and displays a pleasing loose, carefree approach to the designing.
