When the original design landed on the doorstep of Emeco after being won in an online auction, leadership tapped Adrian van Hooydonk to create a new design that retained the brand’s simple, masculine, and utilitarian DNA while looking forward. No stranger to this design problem at BMW, Adrian van Hooydonk began by tweaking the original lines of the 1951 chair to achieve a more dynamic, powerful stance. Emeco craftsmen make each durable recycled aluminum chair in the same 77-step process they’re renowned for. The back and seat rest use innovative, eco-friendly recycled plastic.
