On warm days (or evenings), nothing quite beats gathering around the table with family or friends and dining al fresco in your own backyard. Whether for dinners, BBQs, pool parties or simply enjoying a quick snack outside, the right outdoor dining table is key to upgrading your exterior design. Here are some tips to keep in mind.

Size

Are you someone who loves to host large gatherings, or do you only really need a table that two can sit at comfortably? Does your yard, patio or deck offer ample space, or are you working with more confined quarters, such as a balcony or terrace? These are all dynamics to consider; the best way to narrow your options down is to first measure the area, factoring in any additional space you’ll need for seating arrangements. Ideally, you’ll be able to have the chairs pulled out and still have room to walk around them; this is important for flow, and so that the space doesn’t feel cramped when in use.
