Thicker glass also protects against wobbling and breaking, provides better stability, and is ultimately safer in homes with pets and kids. You might also consider tempered glass, a more durable version, which undergoes special treatment that makes it stronger and less hazardous if it breaks.

The most durable dining tables are ones made from hardwoods or metals.

Hardwoods: Oak, maple, and walnut are the most classic options for sturdy dining room tables. These woods are known for their longevity and ability to withstand wear and tear. You can also refinish hardwoods over time, helping them recover from blemishes and converting them into pieces that stay with you long-term. 

Metals: Stainless steel and iron are two common metals that can also make durable, solid dining tables. These designs have a more modern look while offering stiff resistance to scratching, heat, and damage from everyday use. They’re also less susceptible to environmental changes like humidity.
