Backyard Basics: Outdoor Entertaining
Whether its pool side birthday parties, big backyard barbeques or brunches on the patio, summer time is all about outdoor entertaining. This summer, make sure you’ve got the basics needed to be a great host and keep the party going.
The Basics - Dining Al Fresco
Whether it’s a bunch of energetic kids by the pool, big family backyard feasts, or quiet starlit cocktails with your someone special, having an outdoor dining set prepares your patio for any festivities you have in mind. Smaller bistro sets are quaint and cozy, plus they fit in small spaces. However, if you have the room for it choose a 5-piece, 7-piece or 9-piece patio dining set and you’ll be better able to host a crowd.
Get Cozy - Backyard Conversation Set
Hang out and roast s’mores under the stars or sip sangria and catch up on the latest with friends, a patio chat set makes people comfy and keeps the conversation flowing. To take the edge off on crisp nights, look for a set that includes a fire pit or supplement your set with a deck heater.
Add the Bells and Whistles
Now that you’ve gotten the seating basics in place, add a few extras to make our outdoor room feel more polished. An indoor/outdoor rug makes your space even more inviting. With today’s all-weather materials they are easy to clean and hold up season after season. Add a patio umbrella for shade on hot, sunny days and some patterned toss pillows for extra comfort and style.
Next Level - Patio Bar
For those that love their house to be the center of the action, round out your backyard entertaining with a patio bar. You’ll be pleasantly surprised how often it gets used – not just in summer, but in spring and fall as well. If you are lucky enough to be in an area with warm temps you may just use it year-round. Don't have enough space for a bar? Consider a bar cart. These gems work double duty while you are entertaining and provide the perfect place for a drink station, serving hors d'oeuvres, or finishing the meal with a selection of desserts.
