Persian Painting: A Father Advises His Son About Love c. 1540

Origin: From the Haft Awrang of Jami made for Soltan Ibrahim Mirza, 1556 to 1565.






Here we see a man in old fashioned leggings. He is playing a Cura, which is a lute that is a little smaller than a Baglama. There is a bit of humor here, as we see the horse about to take the man's hat.

Please note the man's foot in the tiny stream. The stream is silver and, unfortunately, it has tarmished, leaving the picture less attractive than it once was.
