Definition of Comfort
Meaning of the Term as it Pertains to Mattresses
What is Comfort?
Described as the "feel" of a mattress, comfort refers to a mattress's ability to allow the body to sink in. Mattress manufacturers offer numerous levels of comfort in order to satisfy the diverse range of customer preferences. Comfort is commonly ranked on a four-level scale, which classifies the feel as ultra plush, plush, firm, or extra firm. Ultra plush represents the softest end of the spectrum, and extra firm stands as the firmest.
Comfort levels tend to vary by mattress manufacturer. Shoppers shouldn't assume a plush mattress from one brand will feel exactly like a plush model from another. The best way to evaluate comfort is to personally test a mattress.
