I don’t know about you, but I truly live in my living room. If all we had were a living room and a kitchen, I believe we would be able to make do – in reality, those are the rooms where we spend most of our time.
We do practically everything in the living room, from playing with the kids and entertaining friends to working and paying bills. We actually abandoned our home office as soon as we brought home our first laptop. And of course, this is a primary spot for watching TV and movies, sometimes simultaneously with these other activities.
With each of these actions comes stuff: toys, DVDs, electronics, papers and more. So we’ve had to be creative with storage to keep our living room a living space. If you’re living room works as hard as ours, of course you can employ beautiful baskets and boxes to tame the clutter, but don’t overlook these living room furniture options for creating an organized, neat space:
Entertainment Centers: When considering entertainment centers for your living room storage, you have a number of options. You can go simple and get a flat panel TV stand that has a couple of shelves for storing components, or you can get a multi-piece unit with doors and shelves so you can hide some items and display others.
Coffee Tables/Ottomans: Of course, you don’t want to have a coffee table in your living room covered with the day’s mail, but there are many coffee tables and ottomans that offer additional storage. These can be great places to store extra throws, family games and maybe even your magazines.
Think Outside the Living Room: You aren’t confined to only putting what a manufacturer deems to be living room furniture in your living room. Look for pieces you love that will meet your needs and use them whatever way you want. A sideboard can house entertainment components under a flat-screen TV and a curio cabinet can be a great option for keeping your collectibles on display and dust-free.
With a few select pieces, your living room will be well-equipped to handle everything you do in it – and all the equipment that comes with it!
