The Demi II living room illustrates some important lessons when it comes to room design. First, choose a neutral palette for the sofa, loveseat and other main pieces. Most people really can’t live with a red couch, so we don't recommend you try it unless you know you can. Here, the largest pieces are upholstered in medium-grey fabric. Grey has become a hip neutral for interiors so it looks fresh, and we anticipate it will have staying power.

But if the whole room were neutral, that would be boring! Use accent pieces to make the room more visually interesting!.The colorful circular pattern on the toss pillows and accent chair add a dash of color, and the light hues brighten up the sofa and loveseat. The fabric's blue, grey and brown tones also tie the upholstered pieces into the medium wood tone of the coffee and end tables. Lastly, the area rug provides a second dose of color and pattern, picking up the circles from the pillows but introducing more brown to coordinate with the cocktail table.

The fun part is that accent pieces are easy to change. You can add in new pillows and rugs or even slipcover the chair to easily give your living room a stylish update when the fancy strikes!

Think Comfort and Practicality

The room's stylish elements are what first attracts us, but it’s what we don’t see that makes us love it.  Unless you're furnishing a showpiece room that no one really uses (and who has those nowadays?), your living room had better stand up to real use. The padded curved arms and plush back cushions of the Demi II sofa and loveseat make them comfortable for relaxing. Though the plush fabric looks like suede, it’s actually easy-care microfiber so spills are quick to clean up.

The overall style of the sofa and loveseat is contemporary without being too trendy, so the look will stand the test of time.
